Samia shares two new songs from her highly anticipated second album, Honey just ahead of its recent release via Grand Jury Music: “Breathing Song” and the album’s title track, “Honey.“ The release of these two singles is accompanied by a new video for “Honey” directed by her frequent collaborator De Ella Jacq Justice.
The video symbolically captures the recurring themes of interconnectedness, community, vulnerability, responsibility and friendship within the album as two different versions of Samia perform; one on stage with the warm embrace of an audience that sings every word, and another exposed in an empty bar singing to nothing more than an attentive camera.
“Breathing Song” and “Honey” follow the December release of another pair of companion songs to the album, “Pink Balloon” and “Sea Lions” , depicting different stages in the dissolution of a relationship, accompanied by their respective videos directed by Samia with Jacq Justice. “Mad At Me” , released in November, is the bold and irresistible single that showcases Samia’s trademark bravado through the display of vulnerability and unabashedly catchy melody. “Mad At Me” was produced with Rostam and Caleb Wright , and features Papa MBye and followed the lead single.“Kill Her Freak Out ,” the sober and unflinching album opener that was shared in September alongside the Honey announcement , accompanied by a video starring Academy Award-nominated actor Lucas Hedges.
Samia recently completed a tour of the UK, which included a series of concerts supporting Maggie Rogers, where she won over the crowd each night. She also gave a successful sold-out concert at London’s XOYO, where she joined Orla Gartland and Katie Gregson-Macleod on stage (with other artists like King Krule and Okay Kaya in the audience), and a set at Pitchfork Festival . londonalongside Cate Le Bon and Courtney Barnett , among others. Next, Samia will embark on a US and Canadian tour beginning in February right after the album’s release.
