“Mami,” Latin hip-hop’s empowering voice Mala Rodriguez’s new single, shows a more intimate and personal side than what we are used to seeing from her: it’s a call from a daughter that misses her mother and, almost like a lament, asks her to return home.
“Mami” is an ode to working mothers, paying tribute to all those who work long hours away from home to provide a better future for their children. Known for writing songs that empower women, Mala does not disappoint with this new song that features powerful lyrics where she shows the pure and true love we all feel for our mothers: “me asomo al pasillo sin hacer ruido cuando te escucho, llevas toda la noche trabajando fuera y te extraño mucho (I look out into the hall without making noise when I hear you, you’ve been working away from home all night and I miss you so much.)”
This new song will surprise her fans, as it is different from her most recent single, “Dame Bien,” in which she collaborated with multi-platinum artist Guaynaa and Bounce music legend, Big Freedia.
