Luis Fonsi releases the fourth single of his long-awaited new album ‘EL VIAJE’ titled “La Romana,” staying true to the promise he made to fans of releasing a new song each month. “La Romana” was composed by Fonsi, Mauricio Rengifo, and Andrés Torres, under the production of those same individuals in partnership with Janina Rosado, the well-respected producer and winner of 10 Latin GRAMMY® and renowned director of consecrated artist Juan Luis Guerra. Additionally, the single features Juan de la Cruz Díaz (known as Chocolate) who is part of Guerra’s orchestra and is considered one of the best musicians specialized in the tambora, bongo, conga and timbales. If we speak about musical variety in a single album, Fonsi, winner of multiple awards and currently nominated to Premio Lo Nuestro 2024, has managed to explore and include different genres in each of the singles he’s released to date, and “La Romana” is no exception.
Fonsi took inspiration from the music he listened to when he was younger and traveled to La Romana, specifically Bachata. Since childhood, he has heard the story of how his grandfather traveled to the Dominican Republic to visit his beloved, the artist’s grandmother, and decided that this needed to be a part of ‘EL VIAJE.’ The release comes with a video that reflects the authentic essence of the Caribbean in a unique and organic manner. Using picturesque landscapes, the local culture becomes harmoniously intertwined with the passionate dance of bachata, where we see Fonsi enjoying some time with the community, dancing and making personal connections with the beautiful Dominican culture. The video was directed by Juanca Paulino and filmed last month in the Dominican Republic.
