Lila Downs at The Greek Theater
In what is to be the final date of her “Pecados y Milagros” tour, Lila Downs and special guests Carla Morrison and Mariachi Los Campero will be playing the Greek Theater this coming September 22nd.
Since its release, in Mexico in October 2011, and the U.S. January 2012, the album “Pecados y Milagros” has taken the Mexican-American singer to new heights. The album went straight to #1 on the Mexican charts and in 2012, “Pecados y Milagros” was awarded the Latin GRAMMY for “Best Folk Album” as well as a 2013 GRAMMY for “Best Regional Mexican Album”. After becoming a staple with world music fans around the world, Lila Downs is now becoming the new queen of her beloved Mexico. the album has reached Platinum status in Mexico, with two hit singles and a sold-out concert at Mexico City’s 10,000-seat Auditorio Nacional.
Touring in support of this album, Lila Downs has performed in such renowned venues as Carnegie Hall, on the 2012 Latin Grammys Awards Telecast at Las Vegas Mandalay Bay which was described by the L.A. Examiner as “absolutely dazzling”, and completed over 100 concerts around the world.
Lila Downs is also the featured musical artist on the PBS documentary series, “Latino Americans,” which will air nationally on PBS on three consecutive Tuesdays, premiering on September 17, September 24 and October 1. The series will also be broadcast nationally in Spanish on Vme, the Spanish-language channel on public television, over six consecutive Fridays beginning on September 20. LATINO AMERICANS is the first major documentary series for television to chronicle the rich and varied history and experiences of Latinos, who have for the past 500-plus years helped shape what is today the United States and have become, with more than 50 million people, the largest minority group in the U.S.
